Corporate Lodge
2 June 2026
Bertie Bookkeeper diary entry.
I'm sat at my desk in the Lodge. It's a quiet Tuesday morning. The other lodge members are busy at the dam, beavering away.
In front of me is the HBRC (His Beaver's Revenue and Customs) advert for a Chief Log Officer (CLO), offering a paltry 80,000 logs a year.
I'm not in it for the logs though - I have a strong sense of civic duty. I check my CV for the umpteenth time:
BERTIE THE BEAVER
Corporate Lodge, Riverside Bank, Bookkeeper Valley | bertie@getbertie.com | getbertie.com
Highly motivated, eager-to-please Chief Log Officer with a proven track record of handling massive log files, stream-lining operations, and building un-breachable architectures. Ready to accept £80,000, which frankly buys an astronomical amount of premium willow bark.
PROFESSIONAL SUMMARY
A natural-born builder with teeth sharp enough to cut through bureaucratic red tape and legacy code alike. Expert in Log Management (both digital and botanical) and a specialist in preventing data leaks. While human tech leaders might scoff at a civil service budget, my overheads are remarkably low: I don't need a pension, just a healthy supply of fresh poplar leaves and a waterproof keyboard.
CORE SKILLS
Log-arithms & Data Logging: Exceptional capacity for processing and organizing large volumes of logs simultaneously.
System Architecture: Master of complex, multi-tiered lodge design with secure, underwater entry points (the ultimate physical firewall).
Stream-lining: Proven ability to redirect workflows, optimize data streams, and clear bottlenecks.
Branch Management: Expert in branching strategies (specifically birch, oak, and willow) to ensure project stability.
Debugging: Literal hands-on experience removing actual pests and boring insects from core infrastructure.
WORK EXPERIENCE
Chief Log Officer (CTO)
GetBertie Bookkeeping | Present
Spearheaded the digital transformation of financial "logging" for small businesses, making numbers balance as perfectly as a well-weighted river barrier.
Maintained a 99.9% uptime for the platform by ensuring all digital "dams" were entirely waterproof against data leaks.
Managed a highly motivated, eager team of developers, heavily promoting a culture of "chewing through the backlog."
Head of Agile Infrastructure
The Big Muddy River Project | 2022 – 2024
Successfully delivered a major structural blockage ahead of schedule and under budget, entirely redirecting the local ecosystem.
Implemented Git-Twig version control to ensure all team members were building on the same structural branch.
Navigated high-pressure environments, specifically rapid water level rises and the occasional disgruntled otter.
EDUCATION
BSc (Hons) in Aquatic Engineering & Log-arithms
The University of Barking
Graduated First Class.
Thesis: "Optimizing Hydraulic Flow: Why Humans Should Stop Using Concrete and Just Use Sticks."
A-Levels & GCSEs
